Pour a glass: the long neck gently oxygenates the wine and its sharp lip ensures drip free pouring.

Using eto - FAQs

How does eto work?

When you open a bottle of wine oxygen mixes with air and starts oxidation. Too much oxidation ruins any wine. eto's unique, patented preservation system creates a seal between the wine and the air, reducing your wine’s exposure to oxygen, slowing down the oxidation process and keeping its great taste for longer.

I’m struggling to unscrew the base from the metal parts.

Sometimes the metal parts contract when they’re cold. You can try soaking your eto in warm water or place it under the hot tap for a few seconds, then dry and try again. You could also use rubber gloves for extra grip.  And remember, there's no need to over-tighten the top part to the base as that has no impact on the seal.

What is the maximum and minimum amount of wine you can keep in eto?

You can store a maximum of 600ml (20oz) of wine in eto and a minimum of 175ml (6oz). We recommend opening your bottle, pouring a glass, and decanting the remainder into Eto.

Can I store eto on its side in my wine fridge?

eto fits perfectly in a fridge door and wine experts recommend keeping your wine (even red wine) in the fridge. However, eto should be stored upright – the seal may not hold if it is placed on its side.

Can I put eto in the dishwasher?

We recommend hand washing all eto parts. The metal parts of eto are not dishwasher safe.

Regular cleaning.

To keep your eto sparkling like new, wash between uses in accordance with the user guide. The small black microfibre bag is the perfect cloth to shine your eto & keep it smudge free.

Detergents can affect the smell and taste of your wine, that's why we recommend using warm water only to keep your eto clean and fresh.

You can use a soft brush on eto, or you can soak in a solution of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) for up to 24 hours.

Deep cleaning the seals.

Deep cleaning silicone seals

eto should smell neutral after washing. To remove wine or other lingering odours we recommend putting the red silicone ball seal and the black silicone glass seal parts ONLY on a baking tray and in your oven for 20 minutes on 200 degrees centigrade (that's 400 degrees Fahrenheit). They are pure food grade silicone so won’t melt.

Please don't put other parts of eto in the oven.

I broke the glass or lost a seal - where can I buy a spare?

eto glass bases and other replacement parts can be bought online from the Shop.
